Data Cleansing
Recycle-IT! | Data Cleansing
The Refurbishing Process
The equipment is collected from companies all over the UK at a time
and day suitable to them. When the equipment arrives at one of our
workshops the make and serial number of each computer and monitor
is logged and entered on a database. If the donor company requires
a copy of this for their records it is sent within a week. This logging
process allows each piece of equipment to be tracked all the way to
the new user.
The equipment is then electrically tested in line with trading standard requirements and the finding and the date are recorded and the specification of the processor is ascertained. All the hard disks are then wiped to a US Department of Defence standard and a verification document is produced.
The hard disks are then formatted ready for software to be loaded, either by Recycle-IT! or the end user.
The equipment that cannot be refurbished is cannibalised for parts and the rest of the equipment is then sent to a national recycling company who treat toxic substances and recycles metal, glass and plastic.
