How European legislation will affect your business
A new European Directive on Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) states that, within the next ten years, schemes will need to be put in place to properly recycle and/or re-use all redundant computer systems. Disposing of them in landfill sites or at incineration units will be outlawed.
This means that businesses need to begin to recycle NOW!

What computers can you donate? For a detailed list of specifications of equipment accepted by Recycle-IT! click here

Our minimum specification for base units is Pentium 3. All we ask is that you leave hard disks and memory etc. in the machines. Without these we can rarely reuse the equipment. As our data wiping service is secure, it’s actually safer to let us deal with your data than to remove the hard disks yourself and lock them in the cupboard! We can also collect monitors, printers, mice, keyboards, cables and laptops.

If your specification falls below the type we need for refurbishment, we’ll put you in touch with a reputable company for environmentally sound disposal. There’s nothing more for you to do.

What’s in it for you?
The payoff for you is immense when you donate your computers!
• You save on administration time.
• You save on money.
• You save on the cost of storage space.
• You can ask us to arrange buy-backs or give-backs to your staff more cost-effectively than you can on site - and for no additional cost to you or your staff.
• You free yourself from any risk of software licence infringement.
• You can rest easy knowing your data is wiped securely.
• You have an easy way in which to help others.
• You can tell us which charities or schools you want to benefit from your kit.
• You can receive reports for your in-house newsletter/magazine/website on how you’ve helped them.
• You raise your environmental profile.
• You gain from excellent publicity and can give your corporate responsibility a public display.

Recycle-IT! | Michael Hamilton, Director of Community Affairs, John Laing plc.

“Like many large companies, we are constantly upgrading our computer hardware. When we do so, we want to ensure three things: firstly that the kit is recycled wherever possible, secondly, that all the Laing information is wiped clean off the hard disk, and thirdly, that we don’t infringe any software licences as we pass on these machines...By working in partnership with Recycle-IT! we met all of these requirements. They worked to our schedules and timescales, and made it easy for us. And the end result is that we were a very satisfied customer, and many charities and schools got hardware and software that will enable them to carry on using these machines for many years to come.”
